Altem Technologies Wins India Small Giants Award

Monsoons were in full swing in Mumbai. It was a cloudy day, the rains threatening to break any moment when I landed in Mumbai. We make several trips to the city, since Altem has a branch in Mumbai. However, this occasion was for something special.

I was accompanying Altem’s Co-Founder, Mr. Sharath Chandra, for an awards ceremony.

This year’s award was given to 40 companies, chosen by a panel from a pool of over 1,600 nominees. One of those 40 was Bangalore’s Altem Technologies, a leading supplier of 3D technology to Southeast Asia. Altem Technologies serves as a distributor for several major 3D manufacturers including Stratasys for Professional 3D Printers, SLM for Metal 3D Printers, Dassault Systèmes for PLM Solutions, Artec 3D for 3D Scanners & MSC Software for CAE Solutions.

When Altem started in 2010, 3D printing was barely known in India. A few companies used this technology, and many believed that this was not a ‘worthy’ investment. Every time we set out to meet a new client, we had an intense process of educating the client and alleviating their fears about 3D printing.

The technology itself has grown multifold since we started and now includes various materials that can be printed, and industries such as fashion, architecture and even medical science have discovered uses for 3D Printing.

India Small Giants Award

Altem, as a company, believes in the power of 3D printing. Every single person in our firm continues to marvel at the beautiful possibilities through this technology. We’ve invested a lot of time and effort in educating people about what they can do with this technology. Be it a high school student, or a doctor struggling with a complicated surgery, 3D printing has uses for all and we absolutely love sharing our knowledge.

Being nominated for such a prestigious award was a great boost to our morale. It is a testament to our team’s hard work and vision that helped us secure this distinction.

The award is an initiative of India SME Forum – the largest Not-for-Profit Initiative for Small & Medium Business. The forum was launched in 2011, with the objective to give recognition to Small and Medium Businesses across India. It has been proven to be popular among the leading new start-ups.

The complete 3D Printing experience – from hardware to software – was designed for simplicity, reliability, and intuitive operation. We accomplished our goal of simplifying the 3D Printing process by creating easy 3D Printing solutions and creating an integrated 3D design marketplace. We feel that the market is poised to take this next big step in integrating 3D Printing into everyday life, and Altem is here to make the experience seamless and user-friendly.
