Srinivas Shastry, Director, Altem Technologies speaks at CII Conference on “Empowering Disruptive Manufacturing”

As the entire world has become the market place for business today with the competition being omnipresent, companies should be abreast with the latest technological trends and adapting towards the same is the need of the hour. With a very unique theme for, CII (Confederation of Indian Industries)  had organised a one day conference in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, INDIA,  titled” Are you learning as fast as the world is changing” on 13th August. The event had a good participation from the industries and across verticals. Speakers from various domains spoke about the recent advancements in mobility and transportation, computing,  start up environment, funding and manufacturing trends. Speakers from Microsoft, HP, Bosch and Mafoi covered the above topics and had audience impressed by the recent technological trends in their particular domains.
3D printing in manufacturing
CII had invited us to speak in the manufacturing track along with SIEMENS PLM and Autodesk . The topic that was covered by Altem Technologies , Bangalore was “3D Printing – Empowering Disruptive Manufacturing”. Our Technical Director, Srinivas Shastry spoke about this topic with various case studies about manufacturing applications using 3D Printers by companies like Airbus, GE aviation and also in the B2C verticals in the healthcare & Medical domains like customised hearing aids and dental aligners.
CII also had some interesting prizes for the participants like the most intelligent question for the day and also for the maximum no. of tweets using the handle CII connect. One of the participants’ query on US Navy using 3D printers to maintain their fleet with 3D printers on board to manufacture spare parts on demand directly from the 3D printer won the award for the most intelligent question of the day . Overall it was a nice experience with industry renowned experts in their particular fields helped to cut thru the clutter of information and to formulate effective strategies and take back clear cut ideas for implementing them in our business.
